Travertine Surface Finish
Travertine can either have a tumbled finish, a brushed and chiseled finish or a honed finish.
Tumbled Travertine
Tumbled travertine is Stone Central's surface finish of choice. Tumbled travertine tiles are cut to size and then placed in large barrels with smaller stones. The large barrels vibrate, making the stones rub against each other which in turn give the travertine tile an antique or aged look with soft edges. This tumbling process is what gives us the stunning tumbled travertine finish.
Tumbled travertine pavers are usually unfilled and are the travertine of choice for exterior applications such as courtyards, garden paths, patios, alfresco areas, driveways, swimming pool surrounds and pool decks, car ports, wall cladding, steps, stair treads and wall capping.

Brushed and Chiselled Travertine
Brushed and chiseled travertine pavers are obtained by brushing the surface of the travertine pavers with rotary brushes and chiseling the edges of the travertine tiles. Brushed and chiseled travertine tiles are usually unfilled. Brushed and chiseled travertine tiles are mainly used for indoor areas or for outdoor areas which aren't exposed to the elements of weather such as outdoor undercover areas.
Honed Travertine
Honed travertine pavers have gone through a honing process which gives the honed travertine tiles a smooth surface. Honed tiles are usually filled but can be unfilled too. Honed tiles should only be used in indoor areas as the slip factor does not allow them to be used outdoors.
