What is a natural split surface?
When natural stone is quarried in large blocks, it is then split manually into slabs by using metal pins and sledgehammers. This is achieved by identifying the stone layers found naturally in the stone blocks. This results in a stone that has a natural stone surface, otherwise known as a natural split surface. An example of random paving that has a natural split surface is slate crazy paving.
What is a machine cut surface?
When a quarried block of natural stone has been quarried and then sliced into slabs with a predefined thickness using a gangsaw, then the resulting stone surface is called machine cut. Crazy pavers with a machine cut surface have a surface finish which has usually been further processed to eliminate the gangsaw marks. An example of crazy paving with a machine cut surface is bluestone.
Do you sell crazy pavers on mesh?
No. Such pavers have usually been placed onto a mesh following a predefined pattern and once installed, the repetition of the pattern is obvious and defeats the purpose of natural random paving. Also, the edges of the tiles placed onto the mesh are normally machine cut (have well defined straight edges), loosing the appeal that occurs naturally on outdoor pavers with natural edged sides.

Stone central does not import sandstone crazy paving. The reason is because sandstone has a relatively high water absorption (~2 – 8% by weight) which can make the stone sensitive to staining and salt attack. Crazy Paving Sandstone generally has a low resistance to wear and tends to produce a gritty residue.
